Hi David,
I was able to do this in a multi-step process. When you have your two different folders in opposite panels, click on the "Compare Folders" icon or go to the "Panel" drop down menu and click on "Compare Folders". A box will open to select Yes to confirm. The result will be that the files not common to both folders will be highlighted. That's the opposite result you are looking for. So next, open the "Select" drop menu and click on "Invert Selection". Highlight the other panel and select Invert Selection again. The result should be that the identical files in both panels are now highlighted. If it all looks like you were expecting, hit the F8 function key to delete the selected files. You will have to do this in both panels.
If you wish, you can add the selection tools to the bottom of each panel by going to the "Options" drop down menu, then Options, Panel Options and scroll down to Panel Selection Tools. Change the pull down to "Show Panel Tools - Icons and Text" and hit Apply. You will then have the Select, Deselect, etc. functions available without having to drill down.
Hope this helps,
Dave
